DBT SKILLS

In DBT, we look at the balance between finding peace in the acceptance of a situation and making changes in our lives.

In order to do this, we need four different components:

  • Module 1: Awareness (mindfulness)
  • Module 2: Distress Tolerance
  • Module 3: Emotion Regulation & Effectiveness
  • Module 4: Interpersonal Effectiveness.

We don’t really look at these four components as encompassing just acceptance or just change, but encompassing both. We do however know that accepting something always comes before it can be changed.
